Slocum Street Style Event

Friday, September 28th, 2007

Next week, the Stoneleigh will take part in the Slocum Street Style Event, which is another cool opportunity for the public to have a hands-on sneak peek at the hotel before it opens.

This year’s event will take place on October 4th, 2007, and will feature an insider’s look at the Penthouse, provided by its designer, Carleton Varney. Mr. Varney will be on hand to talk about the Stoneleigh project from 5-7 pm. Here’s a look at a Pegasus News Article that discusses more about what’s in store for this year.

Last week, during Neiman Marcus’ 100th birthday celebration of their downtown store, David Bull was the honorary guest chef. Guests had the chance to try out some of the dishes that will be available at his Bolla Restaurant, which will open on the first floor of the Stoneleigh when the hotel re-opens early 2008.

If you haven’t had a chance to try a Bolla dish just yet, these photos will have to suffice in the meantime. The tasty-looking items above include (in order from top left) the Beet Salad, Beef Short Rib Cannelloni with Bolognese & Ricotta, Roasted Langoustine with Brown Butter, Mushroom Polenta & Rocket Leaves, and Tonno Crudo with Hearts of Palm, Persimmon, & Black Olive Oil.

Stoneleigh Hotel & Tower Residences Models

I had a chance to stop by the Stoneleigh today and was able to snap some shots related to the new Tower Residences.  Here’s a preview at what the new kitchen and restrooms will look like, as well as a scale model of the new residences next to the hotel.  As for an update, the Tower Residence’s construction crane is going up next week, and the hotel is still set to be finished by late Fall.

Upcoming Events near the Stoneleigh

Friday, September 7th, 2007

Since there’s plenty of events and attractions in the Uptown and Victory Park area, it can be hard to keep track of what’s on next. Yet, thanks to Donna Harris‘ weekly newsletter, folks can find out about all kinds of events and attractions that are just a stone’s throw from the Stoneleigh.

For example, just this week she mentions the Wine for me Argentina? tasting event next Wednesday and The Republic 5th Anniversary Bash this Saturday. She also talks about the Freedom Run in Victory Park, a 9/11 exhibition which features a live feed directly to Iraq where friends, families, and any joe schmo can have the chance to connect with the troops. Stay tuned for more Stoneleigh area events and project updates.
