After celebrating her 55th birthday, Cyndi Lauper checked out of The Stoneleigh Hotel this week and completed the Dallas leg of her True Colors Tour. The Tour features several prominent artists and benefits the following groups: the Human Rights Campaign; Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays; and the Matthew Shepard Foundation.
In honor of National Iced tea month (June–you sly minx, who knew?), Bolla will be submitting a signature blend of Iced Tea to the 2nd Annual contest being held in Dallas at The Plaza at Preston Center. Bolla’s Chef De Cuisine, Curtis Cooke, has concocted a special recipe of fresh blended black tea, Leatherwood Honey and mint infused syrup. Bolla’s tea will compete with a plethora of blends from vendors across the city, while a panel of celebrity judges will issue the final decree of superiority. Jordin Sparks enjoyed a fabulous stay at The Stoneleigh last week during her visit to Dallas. Sparks performed at The Nokia Theatre in conjunction with Alica Keys for an almost sold out performance on Wednesday evening. Both performers are in Houston today for a show held at The Toyota Center before completing the final leg of their 29 point tour. Keep your eyes peeled for more celeb sightings at The Stoneleigh!
I recently overheard a fabulous conversation in which a writer was inquiring with one of the interior designers of The Stoneleigh as to any aspects that made the hotel “green”. Instead of the usual answer encompassing various conservation policies or recycled items/programs within the hotel, the designer elequently noted ”The entire Stoneleigh Project as a whole is green, as the owners and investors opted to preserve and enhance the existing structure instead of dismantling the hotel and hauling it off”.
The Stoneleigh Project speaks not only to the ever growing ecological conern we see crisscrossing the news daily, but it also harps upon the spectacular sense of history and culture not easily duplicated in hotels today.
